Treasury Policy Memo Endorses GSA Online Training for GWACs On April 2, 2009, the Department of Treasury issued Acquisition Bulletin No. 09-03 directing all contracting officers and contract specialists in its bureaus who conduct information technology (IT) contracting to complete GSA's online training for Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) Overview. The memo also cited orders issued under the 8(a) STARS, COMMITS NexGen, VETS and Alliant Small Business GWACs as examples that support achievement of Treasury's small business program goals. The training is hosted on GSA's Center for Acquisition Excellence website and is free to government and industry.

The COMMITS NexGen GWAC has issued a contract modification to update and incorporate the clauses on the contract. A number of clauses were included as a result of the Recovery Act, which will equip the COMMITS NexGen GWAC to better support Recovery Act work.

COMMITS NexGen

COMMITS NexGen, (Commerce Information Technology Solutions-NexGen) is an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC), previously managed by the U.S. Commerce Department. Under the direction of the Office of Management and Budget, GSA assumed responsibility for managing COMMITS NexGen on March 14, 2008.

COMMITS NexGen is a task order contract designed to offer Information Technology (IT) solutions to federal customers. The COMMITS NexGen program’s objectives are to:

  • Deliver top quality, performance-based IT services and solutions that meet
    government mission requirements;
  • Deliver IT services and solutions with a streamlined acquisition methodology; and,
  • Provide competitive IT solutions from a pool of exceptional small, disadvantaged, 8(a), women-owned, veteran-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, and HUBZone businesses.
