About the Project:
New passenger lane service at Massena’s new Land Port of Entry began in June 2009. The facility sits on a 45-acre site and this project has provided expanded and enhanced capability for transportation through this important border crossing.
This project increased the number of primary inspection lanes for passenger vehicles from four to six. Commercial inspection, temporarily done at one passenger lane, shifted to the three new commercial lanes in fall 2009. In addition, the project provided for four secondary commercial inspection docks and an expanded secondary passenger inspection area with four enclosed bays. There is also a new main building, a secondary inspection building, a non-intrusive inspection building and a vehicle maintenance garage. All buildings from the old border station have been demolished.
In addition, this new Port of Entry incorporates state of the art communications, information management, security systems and inspection booths, all of which are critical to the operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
