Peace Arch Project News

Artist rendering of Peace Arch border station in Blaine, WA.

The General Services Administration is currently constructing a new U.S. Land Port of Entry (LPOE) at the Peace Arch Border Crossing in Blaine, Washington.  This new construction project will replace the existing LPOE facility that was originally built in 1976.  The Department of Homeland Security  - U.S. Customs and Border Protection agencies required additional primary inspection booths and a larger secondary inspection area to meet current and future traffic increases -  and a facility that could meet their new security intrusion requirements.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by November, 2010, but the LPOE will be operational to meet peak traffic flows during the Law Enforcement Games (Summer 2009), the Winter Olympics in Vancouver (February 2010), and the Paralympics (March 2010).
