Alternative Fuel Vehicles

GSA offers a wide variety of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs). All AFV sedans, trucks, vans and buses are production line models with all the features offered from diesel or gasoline powered vehicles. AFVs have the added benefit of reducing harmful emissions in the air and reducing the nation's dependence on foreign oil.

Types of alternative motor fuels available:

  • Ethanol (E85): Made up of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded gasoline
  • Biodiesel: A clean burning alternative fuel that can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend
  • Hybrid-Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are not identified as AFVs by the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPACT) but are available for purchase in AutoChoice.
