General Services Administration receives nearly $66 million for critical upgrades to Oklahoma City Courthouses

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. ㅡ On March 23, President Biden signed a funding bill that allocates approximately $66 million for the William J. Holloway, Jr. U.S. Courthouse and the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse in Oklahoma City. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will receive $65,926,000 for the first of a two-phase repair and alteration project to the courthouses.

“As stewards of the federal government real estate, we recognize the importance of maintaining our infrastructure to ensure the safety and functionality of our buildings,” said GSA Regional Administrator Jason Shelton. “We look forward to working with stakeholders as we begin planning for these important upgrades. GSA is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the courthouses for generations to come.”

Improvements will include interior renovations, construction site enhancements, and upgrades to essential systems such as windows, HVAC, mechanical systems, and much more.

The William J. Holloway Jr. U.S. Courthouse, located at 200 Northwest Fourth Street in downtown Oklahoma City, was completed in 1961 at a cost of $7 million. The site is located immediately to the south of the former Alfred P. Murrah Federal Office Building that was destroyed in the 1995 bombing.

The U.S. Post Office and Courthouse in Oklahoma City, located at 215 Dean A. McGee Avenue, opened in 1912. It was the first federal building constructed in Oklahoma, which became a state only five years prior to the building’s completion. Although the post office relocated in 1966, the building continues to function in its historic capacity as a federal courthouse and office building.
