High-demand locations added for federal workforce credentialing
Collaboration between the General Services Administration (GSA), United States Postal Service (USPS) results in three additional Personal Identity Verification (PIV) and onboarding locations at Post Offices in New York, Illinois, and New Mexico
WASHINGTON — The U.S. General Services Administration and U.S. Postal Service opened three new credentialing locations in New York, Chicago, and Rio Rancho, New Mexico. These locations were selected due to high demand for credentialing services, with existing USAccess sites in the area experiencing long wait times.
A total of 15 USAccess Credentialing Post Office Sites (CPOS) have opened across all regions of the continental United States over the past two years. The three additional USPS sites will provide relief for federal workers needing to enroll, receive, and update their Personal Identity Verification Credentials (per Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12) closer to where they live and in a more timely way.
“When GSA and USPS launched this collaboration to create USAccess Credentialing Post Office Sites, we were excited about the possibilities that could arise,” said Darlene Gore, director, Identity Credential and Access Management Division. “This collaboration continues to enhance the overall customer experience for federal employees, which is measured through customer surveys, with 86% of survey respondents satisfied with the PIV services they received at the credentialing sites.”
Between January of 2022 and November 2023, the USAccess CPOS locations completed 69,060 appointments, serviced over 40,456 enrollments, and expanded from the original 7 pilot sites to 15 sites nationwide with more slated to open in calendar year 2024.
