GSA Transfers Laredo Veteran's Post Office
On June 21, the U.S. General Services Administration announced the transfer of the Laredo Veteran’s Post Office to the City of Laredo. The transfer to the City is the latest action in GSA’s ongoing efforts to get excess federal facilities off of the books while creating the greatest possible value for taxpayers. This conveyance will save the federal government more than $10 million dollar by avoiding the costs to maintain a property no longer needed in its inventory.

Region Supports Priorities on Sustainability
The Greater Southwest Region is working hard to support GSA priorities and goals to promote sustainability, increase energy efficiency, and reduce costs. We recently established an “Energy and Sustainability Branch” in the region , which is helping us to better manage federal facilities and implement many strategies to save taxpayer dollars and conserve energy and water.
In Midst of Drought, GSA Project Saves Water and Cuts Cost
GSA’s Southwest Region is helping to build a more sustainable government by supporting projects that reduce existing resource waste, increase energy efficiency, and promote more equitable public use of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. The region’s Public Building Service recently completed a landscape renovation at the Pete V. Domenici U.S. Courthouse that will address water and energy consumption by reducing the water usage for irrigation by 92%. In the midst of the New Mexico drought, this project highlights innovative water-saving improvements.
