The public hours of operation are 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, with the postal lobby hours 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all holidays. The post office window hours are 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday - Friday and 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday. The building tenants include the U.S. Geological Survey offices, U.S. Army Headquarters, and Small Business Administration (SCORE).

Visitors must have a valid picture ID to gain entrance to the building and are required to submit to a security screening process. This courthouse is in the Northern District of Iowa Courts and is registered as a Historic Building.

Hours of Operation: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Visitors must have a valid ID and must pass through security screening. Cell phones and cameras are not permitted in the building. Visitors only have access to public spaces in the building. Tours of the building are available upon request. The U.S. District Courts conduct tours of the public areas of the courthouse, which includes the atrium and the history center. For building tours, please call (319) 286-2311.
