WASHINGTON -- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) awarded the new Federal Relay Service contract to Sprint Communications Company, LP on August 6. Sprint holds the current contract for the Federal Information Relay Service.
The Federal Relay Service acts as an intermediary between hearing individuals and individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, and//or have speech disabilities for telecommunications. It is used by citizens contacting federal government employees as well as by federal employees to conduct their business.
"We are pleased to be able to continue to provide this valuable service to the public and federal agencies," said Dennis Fischer, Commissioner of GSA's Federal Technology Service, and "we look forward to working closely in this partnership with Sprint in providing additional capabilities as they become available."
