Sylvia L. Hernandez - Regional Administrator, Greater Southwest Region
Sylvia L. Hernandez was appointed Regional Administrator for U.S. General Services Administration’s Greater Southwest Region May 12, 2014.
As Regional Administrator, Hernandez oversees all of GSA activities in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas; including management of federal real estate and information technology. She is responsible for an inventory of 1,350 government-owned buildings. Prior to her appointment, Hernandez served as Acting Regional Administrator for the Greater Southwest Region. Her acting role began in June 2012.
Before serving in the Regional Administrator capacity, Hernandez served as Director for the Technical Services Division, Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), in the GSA Greater Southwest Region. In this position, Hernandez had program responsibility for the GSA regional Network Services and Assisted Acquisition Services business lines. Combined, the business lines generated $250M+ in annual revenue. Hernandez’s career spans over 35 years of service with GSA. She has worked in numerous leadership positions to include positions at GSA Headquarters and in 2009 served as the Acting Regional Deputy Administrator for the Greater Southwest Region.
Hernandez holds Bachelor of Arts degrees from the New Mexico State University and the University of Texas at Arlington. She also earned a Master’s Certification in Telecommunications Management from the University of Dallas, Texas.
