James Ferracci, Acting Public Buildings Service, Regional Commissioner
James Ferracci (Jimmy) is the PBS Acting Regional Commissioner for the Greater Southwest Region. Jimmy’s key roles as the Acting Regional Commissioner are to take care of the PBS team and its customers and help them to deliver work space solutions. It is his responsibility to support the acquisition, management, maintenance, renovation, new construction, and disposal of real property for federal agencies in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The Greater Southwest Region manages over 34 million square feet of work space in over 1,300 owned and leased facilities.
Prior to becoming the Acting Regional Commissioner, Jimmy held various positions within GSA since 1999. Jimmy started at GSA in 1999 as Assistant Regional Counsel where he was responsible for providing legal advice and support to the region with emphasis in real estate acquisition, disposal, property management and leasing. He also litigated in contract disputes and protest matters. In May 2003, Jimmy moved into the real property disposal division where he held the position of Senior Realty Officer, and then served as director. He supported and led the real property disposal program for GSA and other customer agencies for a fifteen-state zone.
Before his time with GSA, Jimmy worked in real estate for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for eight years, and in private legal practice with a commercial defense law firm in Louisiana. Jimmy graduated Summa Cum Laude and Top Accounting Graduate from the University of Louisiana in Monroe where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. He then moved on to graduate in the top 10 percent as a member of the Order of the Coif for his Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University. Jimmy is a graduate of GSA’s Advanced Leadership Development Program and is a licensed Attorney in Louisiana and Texas.
