FedBizOpps Fulfills Expectations

Posted November 1, 2003

FedBizOpps is the single, web-enabled resource that lists and provides detailed information on all federal procurement opportunities over $25,000. Currently, FedBizOpps averages 28 million site visits per month. More than 22,800 buyers in 98 federal agencies and over 420,000 registered vendors now use the site to publish and retrieve federal solicitation information 24x7x365.

FedBizOpps furthers one of the President’s objectives of using information technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of federal government. GSA launched this e-government initiative in January 2002, substantially ahead of the President’s goal to have all agencies using a single e-procurement portal by the end of 2002.

FedBizOpps capitalizes on electronic business processes to give federal buyers and vendors a single, comprehensive source for posting and retrieving solicitation information online. It replaced the printed publication, Commerce Business Daily (CBD), and CBDNet.

In September 2003, the FedBizOpps website received a 2003 Government Computer News Award for Innovative IT Accomplishments. FedBizOpps can be accessed through a QuickLink on gsa.gov.
