Named for former U.S. Senator Thomas F. Eagleton, the 29-story U.S. Courthouse is a major landmark for the city of St. Louis. The exterior of the building follows a classical tripartite scheme, which utilizes the split-level stacking concept.
Construction was completed in 2000. The Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse has more than 1.3 million square
feet of space and is 557 feet. The courthouse again earned an ENERGY STAR® rating in 2010.
Thomas F. Eagleton served in the U.S. Senate from 1968-1987 before returning to Missouri where he continued
to practice law and teach at Washington University in St. Louis.
General Building Information
Hours of Operation
The Eagleton Courthouse is open from 7 a.m.– 6 p.m., Monday–Friday. Visitors must have a valid ID and must pass through security screening before being granted entry. Visitors only have access to public spaces in the building.
Surface parking is not permitted adjacent to the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse city block. Parking inside the facility is assigned in accordance with the Federal Property Management Regulations, Chapter 101-20.104.1. The Courthouse Parking Association assigns excess employee parking to tenants on a waiting list. Assignments will change from time-to-time as some tenants vacate or are reassigned.

Located on the first level of the building, the cafeteria is open Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m.–2 p.m. for lunch. The grill closes at 1:45 p.m.
The cafeteria provides vending services in the first floor cafeteria area. All malfunctions and refunds may be reported and obtained in the cafeteria.
Gateway Metro Credit Union
The Gateway Metro Credit Union ATM is located on the first floor and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All malfunctions may be reported directly to Gateway Metro at the number listed below.
The fitness center is located on the first floor and membership is available to employees of the federal judiciary branch. The center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Courts employees can obtain a membership from the U.S. Court of Appeals.
Employee Health Unit
The Health Unit is open Monday thru Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. to noon every Friday.The unit has two part-time nurses and a doctor who visits 16 times a month. The team responds to medical emergencies throughout the building and provides to all recipient agencies, in exchange for payment, services such as blood pressure screenings/readings, electrocardiograms, administration of allergy extract, influenza vaccine, tetanus vaccine, and Mantoux Test (TB).
The Judicial Learning Center
The Judicial Learning Center is a series of interactive educational exhibits, located on the first floor of the courthouse. Exhibits include information on the three branches of government, landmark decisions, shared power relationship between the national government and the states, retired judges' autobiographies and much more. The Judicial Learning Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weekdays, excluding federal holidays.
