New e-Tools for GSA Advantage!® and e-Buy Streamline Federal Buying

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has introduced new e-Tools to GSA Advantage!® and e-Buy that will make easier and faster for agencies to purchase goods and services online, GSA announced today.

“The ‘e’ in e-Tools now stands for enhanced,” said Donna Bennett, Commissioner of GSA’s Federal Supply Service. “These enhancements, made in response to requests from federal buyers and sellers, build on GSA’s focus of helping customer agencies comply with government procurement regulations,” “The enhancements offer a more efficient and user-friendly experience, while ensuring users ‘get it right’ when purchasing from GSA Schedules.”

Bennett added that the enhancements of online tools align with GSA’s recently announced “Get It Right” campaign, which focuses on the proper use of GSA Schedules. Improvements help users save time and money and also ensure that decisions comply with procurement sourcing and best-value purchase decisions.

“These enhancements are designed to improve the overall usability of GSA Advantage!®, the federal online marketplace for goods and services, and e-Buy, the online service that enables agencies to request quotes from GSA Schedule contractors online,” Bennett said. “We solicited our customers, listened to their recommendations and responded with e-tools designed to make federal purchasing more efficient and effective, freeing agencies to devote the bulk of their resources to their agencies’ core missions.”

The new e-Tools enable agencies to search GSA Advantage!® by category, reduce the amount of time it takes to find and buy the right items at the right time, thus reducing agency costs. Categorization, the major enhancement to GSA Advantage!®, promises dramatic timesaving enrichment to the search experience. Drill-down browsing by category, improved keyword searching, and powerful advanced searching combined with new refinement and filtering capabilities, all translate to a Federal buyer’s more quickly and easily zeroing in on exact purchase item matches. On the enhanced site, the more popular features such as search, order status and quick ordering are more accessible.

The e-Buy enhancements help agencies find contractors and obtain quotes faster than ever.  e-Buy provides agencies with online capabilities, in a competitive environment, to get best deals and values, while expanding vendor opportunities.
