GSA Announces Departure of PBS Commissioner Moravec

Washington, D.C. – GSA Administrator Stephen A. Perry announced today the pending departure of F. Joseph Moravec, the agency’s Public Buildings Service (PBS) Commissioner, who will return to the private sector August 1.
Mr. Moravec was appointed as Commissioner of Public Buildings on June 4, 2001. As the head of PBS – the organization that provides office space for federal workers – he oversaw the management of more than 345 million square feet of space in more than 8,000 public and private buildings serving over one million federal workers.
Administrator Perry noted that, “During Joe’s tenure with GSA, he transformed the Public Buildings Service into a customer-centric organization. His implementation of President Bush’s Management Agenda, especially in the areas of Human Capital and Asset Management, have contributed to a major improvement of PBS and of GSA so that the agency is recognized for its superior customer service. We will certainly miss his leadership and wish him all the best in his new endeavors.”
Mr. Moravec has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry as practitioner and manager. Prior to coming to GSA, he served as Senior Advisor for Business Development at The George Washington University. He also has served in a number of real estate firms including Leggat McCall & Werner; Grubb & Ellis; Barnes, Morris, Parode & Foster and Faison.
“It has been an honor to serve in the Administration as Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service for the last four years,” said Commissioner Moravec. “It has been the greatest work experience of my life and has reaffirmed my belief in our unique system of government and given me a new, deeper appreciation of what it means to be a citizen. I can think of no higher calling than public service.”
Mr. Moravec will be seeking new career opportunities in the private sector.
