GSA Driving Green
Includes: Remarks by Lurita Doan, Administrator
While Administrator Lurita Doan is promoting alternative fuel vehicles for federal agencies, GSA is focusing on a range of policies, products and services to help agencies reduce harm to the environment.
GSA supports agencies and the goals set forth by Executive Order 13423, "Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy, and Transportation Management."
GSA is leading by example with its own policies. Employees are encouraged to recycle and minimize waste as well as conserve energy and water. Leading by example means supporting GSA's Environmental Policy Statement and taking the initiative to increase greening efforts in our everyday work.
Some examples of GSA environmental efforts:
- GSA awarded a $6.9 million contract for the design and construction of a solar park at the Denver Federal Center (DFC).
- GSA retrofitted many buildings with more lighting systems that capture natural daylight.
- Oregon's Wayne L. Morse courthouse was honored as one of the American Institute of Architects' Top Ten Green Buildings.
