GSA Awards FedBizOpps Contract to Symplicity

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) hired Symplicity Corp., an Arlington, Va., Small, Disadvantaged, Minority-Owned business, to develop a new system for GSA’s Federal Business Opportunities Web site, fbo.gov.
“Award of the FedBizOpps contract is a significant milestone,” said Teresa Sorrenti, GSA’s Director of Acquisition Systems. “It will further our mission to provide common, shared services to our customers and their suppliers in the federal acquisition community. I look forward to working with our new industry partner to continue to offer procurement opportunities in a transparent manner, using efficient, effective technology.”
More than 28,000 buyers in 114 federal agencies and more than 481,000 registered vendors publish and retrieve federal solicitation information on fbo.gov, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Fbo.gov emails 500,000 messages daily to alert subscribers to new postings.
In 2002, FedBizOpps became a program in GSA’s Integrated Acquisition Environment, E-Government initiative, a key element of the President’s Management Agenda.
Fbo.gov, created and operated by GSA since 2000, contains all federal solicitation information. The eight-year Symplicity contract has a three-year base, five one-year options and an estimated value of $17 million.
