GSA Expo 2008 - April 22
GSA’s Expo 2008 drew more than 5,000 attendees to Anaheim, Calif. GSA Expo 2008 hosted numerous classes for government employees, more than 730 vendors, and highlighted GSA’s green initiatives. “Go Green” led the way, and was a major theme of this year’s GSA Expo. Numerous courses were given to GSA employees and vendors on how to buy environmentally friendly goods and services. In addition, the GSA flagship booth had subject-matter experts at displays of such technologies as flex fuel vehicles, solar collectors, and telecommuting stations. GSA Administrator Lurita Doan; Jim Williams, commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service; and Commissioner David Winstead Public Buildings Service, will be among the dignitaries at GSA Expo 2008.
Doan recognized Grant Gifford, a “Hot Shot Captain” with the U.S. Forest Service. Gifford used a new fire shelter to save his life during last year’s devastating wildfires. The event included a demonstration of the shelters.
