Terry McNair, Acting Regional Commissioner, Federal Acquisition Service
Terry P. McNair began serving as the Acting Regional Commissioner for the Federal Acquisition Service in the National Capital Region (NCR) in June 2015. In this role, McNair oversees GSA's largest regional FAS operation with a client base of approximately 800,000 users, supported by the Assisted Acquisition, Network Services, Personal Property, and Fleet Management business lines. He has also served as the Deputy Regional Commissioner since October 2006, responsible for day to day business operations, business development, industry relations, and service delivery. He has a technical and acquisition background and has held leadership positions with increasing responsibility in both the Federal Government and private industry.
McNair has 42 years of Federal Service and joined GSA in 1984. He started his Federal career with the Dept. of the Army, National Guard Bureau and Corp. of Engineers; moved on to the Dept. of Transportation (DOT) and established a DOT Resources Management Program for information technology acquisitions. Prior to selection for his current position, he held GSA leadership positions as Deputy Assistant Regional Administrator, Director of GSA’s Enterprise Development Center, Director of the NCR FAS Acquisition Management Center and Director of the Federal Procurement Data Center.
McNair is active in his church, volunteers with charitable organizations and a wildlife sanctuary, and is an avid outdoorsman. He has a demonstrated track record of innovative business practices, effective leadership, government/industry relations, business development, quality customer service, and team work.
