Resources for Property Managers

The GSA child care program provides space and services for child care centers to operate in facilities under GSA control. Although GSA does not directly operate or contract for the child care centers in its system, GSA property managers are responsible for overseeing certain standards in managing the space and equipment of child care facilities located in their buildings.

To assist property managers with their daily and long-term management of child care centers within their facilities, GSA has developed the Property Manager’s Child Care Desk Guide, which provides insight into:

  • Licensing for use of space
  • Cleaning standards
  • Design and remodeling standards
  • Funding equipment
  • Environmental maintenance
  • Landscaping and playgrounds
  • Health and safety
  • Security issues

Online training for the Property Manager’s Child Care Desk Guide is now available. GSA employees should access the training through GSA On-Line University (OLU) to receive training credit, keyword search “child care”. The content is available for non-GSA employees by clicking this link: Maintaining GSA Child Care Facilities: Training for Property Managers [DOC - 151.50 KB]

For further resources, property managers can contact their Regional Child Care Coordinator or the National Office Child Care Division.
