GSA Global Supply™ Overview
Alert!: In July 2016, GSA's ordering sites (GSA Advantage and GSA Global Supply) will require customers using a purchase card to buy GSA Global Supply products to validate their orders by entering their Activity Address Code (AAC). The AAC is a six character, alphanumeric identifier that is unique to each federal agency and location. Customers may still use the purchase card to pay for the pending transaction, but it will not be processed without a valid AAC. The AAC will be saved in the user profile so this is a "one-time" task. For customers who do not know their AAC, or need to confirm its validity, the Civilian Agency AAC Contacts [PDF - 67 KB] provides access to your agency's AAC expert(s). DoD customers should contact their Central Service Point for AAC information. (Scroll down to "DoDAAD Changes" to see Central Service Point listings.)
NEW! Office Supply Catalog: GSA Global Supply has published an office supplies catalog highlighting approximately 800 National Stock Numbers (NSN) available through our strategic sourcing initiative. These items may be ordered through any ordering mechanism (MILSTRIP, phone, fax or online). To view an electronic version of the catalog, or to order a print copy, visit our publications site.
GSA Global Supply will be launching similar strategic sourcing projects for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) supplies and Janitorial-Sanitation (JanSan) products in the summer of 2016 so watch for a catalog displaying these items later in this calendar year.
2016 Catalog Still Available: GSA Global Supply's 2016 Catalog is still available. Users can view it online or request a printed copy to be mailed. Given the specialty catalogs noted above, GSA will not be publishing a Supply Catalog in calendar year 2016.
Strategic Sourcing for Office Supply NSNs: Since October 5, 2015, GSA Global Supply has incorporated strategic sourcing into its support of National Stock Numbers (NSN) for office supplies. Learn more about Strategic Sourcing for Office Supply NSNs [PDF - 365 KB] and the expansion of this concept to additional product lines later in Fiscal Year 2016. GSA Global Supply hosted a customer webinar on March 30, 2016 to describe this program more fully. The slides used in this presentation are available: Ordering Office Supplies from GSA Global Supply [PPT - 3.6 MB].
GSA Global Supply provides federal users, military or civilian, worldwide access to common-use items like office products, tools and cleaning supplies. Users can requisition items and pay with a government purchase card or through direct billing via an Activity Address Code (AAC/DoDAAC). Multiple ordering methods are available to maximize customer options. In response to changes in customer demand and the commercial marketplace, GSA Global Supply is modernizing its business model as described below.
GSA Global Supply's New Business Model
GSA Blog Post: Acting Assistant Commissioner Bill Sisk posted a message on June 30, 2015, that touches on the evolution of the GSA Global Supply business model, and the modernization of the traditional concept of a "requisition." The blog post was prompted by the recent award of National Stock Number contracts under the FSSI Office Supplies Third Generation (OS3) Requisition channel, for use by GSA Global Supply customers starting in late 2015.
Features of the new model include:
- Direct delivery of products from our vendor partners for greater speed and lower cost;
- Lower prices through incorporation of Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative partners for Office supplies, Maintenance, Repair & Operating (MRO) items and Janitorial/Sanitation (JanSan) products;
- Enhanced IT platforms to improve customer visibility regarding order status; and
- Streamlined product offering following reassignment of FSG 80 (paint, sealant, etc.) and wildland fire items to DLA;
What does not change:
- Requisition-based ordering means customers do not have to comparison shop or document three (3) sources;
- Guaranteed compliance with FAR and other federal purchasing regulations;
- Easy customer service at (800) 488-3111 or email at NCSCcustomer.Service@gsa.gov; and
- Ordering options are plentiful:
The tables below contain a variety of reference documents that may assist customers with these transitions. The first contains general items related to the changing business model. The second is focused on the items that transitioned to DLA.
