GSA’s goals are to help its customers reach their sustainability goals, reduce the environmental impact of the federal government, and to make the work environment more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Come join us on April 11, 2013 to learn more on how GSA can assist you with green purchasing. Also, become more familiar with available GSA programs/solutions to make our government a more efficient and environmentally friendly place to work.
GSA Schedules and Sustainable Acquisition - This specialized course will teach you about sustainability goals government-wide, and the ways GSA Schedules can help achieve those goals. Learn how “green” purchasing, using the GSA Schedules program, will help your organization save money, time, and resources.
GSA Advantage offers thousands of products and services to meet your invironmental purchasing goals. The Advantage page is designed to give you easy access to the wide variety of environmental products and services offered by GSA.
The Green Products Compilation (GPC) is designed to facilitate the procurement of green/sustainable products and services. The products listed are those for which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department Energy, or U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued designations or otherwise provided guidance for environmental or energy attributes. The tool allows federal purchasers to search, sort, and identify sustainable products and their associated guidance documentation to facilitate green purchasing decisions.
Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program helps federal agencies dispose of personal property that is no longer needed. At the same time, it helps other federal agencies and state, local, and public organizations acquire these items. After internal screening, GSA facilitates the transfer of excess property from one federal agency to another. GSA also helps federal agencies find and obtain this property. Government regulations mandate that federal agencies consider acquiring excess personal property first, before purchasing new items. Each year, this approach saves the taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Green Proving Ground program (GPG) leverages GSA’s real estate portfolio to evaluate innovative sustainable building technologies. Evaluations, performed in association with independent researchers, are used to support the development of GSA performance specifications and inform decision making within GSA, other federal agencies, and the real estate industry. The program aims to drive innovation in environmental performance in federal buildings and help lead market transformation through deployment of new technologies.
Recycling: Marion M. R. Buntyn, Regional Recycling and Sustainable Purchasing Coordinator will be providing some recycling tips for the workplace as well as home.
