VISION UPDATE: December 14, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC — Last week, GSA Administrator Denise Roth was welcomed as the keynote at the DC Chamber of Commerce 2015 Annual Meeting & Chairman’s Inaugural Breakfast. The event was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Dec 10th. The annual meeting draws as many as 500 of the area’s most influential decision makers. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and inaugurate the Chamber's incoming Chair of the Board of Directors.

Roth opened by sharing GSA’s role in supporting fellow agencies by providing a range of goods and services and enabling them to carry out their duties and serve the public. She also shared GSA’s vision which includes enhancing the role of GSA as a catalyst for economic development in communities across the country.

“I am a strong advocate for public and private partnerships," said Roth. "I greatly appreciate every opportunity to strengthen GSA’s relationships with the business community."

Roth then outlined GSA’s economic catalyst efforts which are centered on a strategic, purposeful determination to make it easier to work with the government. This effort is currently grounded in three principles:

  • Foster two-way communications between government and industry, leading to improved contract requirements that reflect supplier feedback
  • Increase support to prospective and new vendors, which allows us to continually cultivate the products and services the government has access to
  • Reduce barriers and complexity across the board by reviewing internal processes to ensure they are geared toward achieving desired results
