Department of Interior (DOI)

The mission of the Department of Interior is to protect America's natural resources and heritage, honor our cultures and tribal communities, and supply the energy to power our future. Founded in 1849, the roles and responsibilities of the Department of Interior are incredibly diverse and are represented by its many bureaus. Activities overseen by the Department include caring for national parks, overseeing Indian affairs, monitoring earthquakes, regulating mining, protecting wildlife, and maintaining the National Register of Historic Places.
