FAS Highlights Savings for PBS Customers
GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) provided an overview of their agency’s green products and services, including the Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) and Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) at our PBS Client Workshop on June 13.
More than 30 representatives from a range of our client agencies attended the Client Workshop and engaged in lively dialogue with PBS subject matter experts on topics that included pricing policy, RWA process, and BA54 funding procedures. And, the dialogue continued when our guest speakers from FAS, Andy Kirkpatrick and Jessica Thurston, discussed their agency’s offerings relating to sustainability. “How can GSA help agencies shrink their (environmental) footprints with a shoe that is already too small?” is how one client agency expressed the challenge in meeting environmental mandates within current fiscal constraints.
Conveniently, FAS has programs and tools in place to make it easier for our client agencies to meet that challenge. The Green Products Compilation (GPC) is a free resource, open to the public, that allows customers to understand which green mandates they are required to meet and how to do it with products and services from FAS. The Sustainable Facilities (SF) tool in turn is the interactive online tool that couples information from multiple federal green purchasing programs with clearly organized lists of FAS green products and services.
Client agencies that need to outfit spaces with new technology can use the benefits of Assisted Acquisition Services (AAS), which provides customized, professional IT solutions. AAS allows customers to choose the services and level of support needed for each requirement – small or large, simple or complex.
Through the Multiple Awards Schedules program, FAS is able to leverage the buying power of the federal government to get customers commonly used products and professional services at the most competitive price. Consolidating contracts into the schedules means significantly reduced procurement lead times that help our customers meet their mission objectives. Moreover, since over 80 percent of all MAS contractors are small businesses, it helps us to achieve our socio-economic goals. In other words, a win- win for all!
Thank you Andy and Jessica, for your participation in our workshop, and for helping demonstrate the many ways in which GSA is committed to providing value and innovative solutions for our customer agencies.
