Pacific Rim opens two new GSA Global Supply™ stores in Guam

Two new GSA Global Supply Stores, known as GSA ServMarts, opened in Guam in late July 2012. These stores are the result of a partnership between Region 9, Naval Base Guam, Andersen Air Force Base, National Industry of the Severely Handicapped (NISH) and a contract vendor, Pacific Ability Resources, Inc (PARI).

“The opening of these stores is just another example of how we are expanding our service to the warfighter,” said Brandy Untalan, GSA's customer service director for Guam. “Now the Navy and Air Force in this region can focus on how to effectively meet their missions to serve our country.”

Both walk-in stores are supplied with over 800 items, including more than 300 AbilityOne and almost 500 environmentally friendly products. Helping other government agencies easily meet their missions, these stores have the ability to accept DoDACC or Government Purchase Card as payment. They are also in compliance with all Federal Acquisition Regulation, AbilityOne and executive order purchasing requirements.

“Both the Navy and Air Force expressed desires to establish a strategic partnership with GSA,” said Untalan. “We are able to help other agencies in their needs and show them just how easy GSA is to do business with.”

These stores will eventually shift to a Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) model. This means that the stores will be vendor managed and operated, with NISH and GSA oversight. With the 4PL model, GSA ensures that the stores will be stocked continuously and that the Navy and Air Force can focus on their missions rather than store management. The 4PL model is being implemented in all GSA ServMarts worldwide, including the United States Marine Corps’ Quantico and Camp Lejeune ServMarts in 2007.
