POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The U.S. General Services Administration, in partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers, announces the sale by auction of the 2nd LT Glen Carpenter U.S. Army Reserve Center, 25 Oakley Street, Poughkeepsie, New York. The sale is part of GSA’s ongoing efforts to dispose of excess properties to save taxpayer dollars and make more efficient use of the government’s real estate assets. During fiscal year 2012, GSA sold or transferred more than 100 excess properties.
“Two years ago, the President directed GSA to redouble our efforts to dispose of federal facilities that were no longer needed for government uses,” said Bob Zarnetske, regional administrator for GSA’s New England region. “GSA will work hard to put this property back into productive use to benefit the residents of Poughkeepsie, the State of New York and the American taxpayers.”
Dates for an open house are scheduled for October 17 and November 14, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The public auction opens on November 15, 10:00 am. Starting minimum bid of $150,000 and a $15,000 bid deposit is required.
The property consists of about 3 acres, improved with three permanent buildings:
Administration Building, Vehicle Maintenance Garage and Hazardous Materials Storage Building and is located on the north side of the City of Poughkeepsie, New York which holds a seat of Dutchess County, New York. Dutchess County.
The City of Poughkeepsie Planning and Zoning Department has designated this Property and surrounding properties for research and development purposes. The property is located in an area that permits business and professional offices, medical laboratories, research and development, meeting facilities, residential development and municipal parks. Also, with a special permit issued by the City of Poughkeepsie Planning Board, pilot plants for the testing of manufacturing, processing, or fabricating methods or for the testing of products or materials may also be located in this zone.
