Background on the GSA Broker Contract
GSA Public Buildings Service has a lease portfolio consisting of over 8,000 leases with an annual rent outlay of over $5.5 billion. To acquire these leases on behalf of the Government, GSA utilizes a combination of in house staff and contracts with private sector brokers. On average over the last 3 years, PBS has utilized brokers to obtain 47% of its leased space. The current contract, National Broker Contract 2 (NBC2) is the second of its kind, issued in 2010 at the expiration of its predecessor, known as NBC1. The current contract is a one-year contract, with five one-year options, and is currently in its second option year.
