GSA’s Northeast and Caribbean Region, with responsibility for federal facilities in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, has aggressively sought out energy conservation projects for the facilities within its regional area. With properties in areas that are subjected to cold, harsh winter weather, while at the same time buildings that are in balmy tropics, GSA pursues energy conservation techniques that span both of these extremes and finds opportunities to save energy whether the temperature is 2° or 102°. For its efforts in purchasing energy from renewable sources, the agency is recognized as one of the top ten Federal Green Power Partners by the Environment Protection Agency.
