Fourth Annual DFC Farmers Market Offers Local, Fresh Produce and Products
GSA's Denver Federal Center kicked off its 4th annual DFC Farmers Market on June 6, 2013. The market is open rain or shine every Thursday from 11am – 1pm through September 12, 2013 at Bicentennial Park located in the heart of the DFC in Lakewood, CO.
The goals of the market are to provide fresh fruit and produce, as well as locally made treats and lunch items. DFC employees can either walk or take the newly launched DFC B-cycle bike share program to the market. This event is an additional campus amenity that brings neighbors together and an opportunity for GSA to contribute to being a good neighbor.
“We are fortunate to have the space to host a farmers market. This market is a way for people to purchase locally grown produce and for them to connect with campus tenants and within their community,” said Susan Damour, GSA Regional Administrator. “We are providing an experience that promotes a sense of place an important component in integrating the DFC with the Lakewood community.”
The market features easy access for the public, amenities such as free parking, shade, landscaping, open-air pavilions, bike racks, and picnic benches. Visitors will find upwards of 35 local vendors participating. The market is unique in that it is the only weekday market in Lakewood, CO, and is open to tenants and the public.
Remember to bring cash and checks to the market (some vendors may accept credit cards). Visitors are welcome and can access the market at Gate 1, located at 6th and Kipling, and Gate 4, located at Union and 4th Avenue, or Gate 5 located at Union Boulevard and 2nd Street. Visitors should be prepared to present a valid driver’s license upon entry. Please keep your furry friends home, pets are not allowed on the campus.
