Administrator Tangherlini Visits Laredo Ports of Entry

On February 18, GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini and Acting Regional Administrator Sylvia Hernandez participated in a press event in Laredo to announced GSA's receipt of federal funding for construction at the Laredo Convent Avenue and Juárez-Lincoln Ports of Entry. The Fiscal Year 2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act allows GSA to invest $61.6 million to construct both projects to ease traffic in the area and help the Department of Homeland Security continue to fulfill its mission.

GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini weighs in:

"This funding will increase efficiency, create economic growth, and improve safety and security for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. These are critical investments in infrastructure that will create significant savings by preventing costly emergency repairs in the future and build upon our progress."

GSA's Acting Regional Administrator Sylvia Hernandez says:

"GSA's mission is to serve the government and the American People. The funding for the Laredo projects help us to accomplish both. The strong partnerships we've developed with the City of Laredo, Congressman Cuellar's Office and our customer, DHS's Customer and Border Protection, will be instrumental carrying these projects to completion."

The press event was a great opportunity for GSA to share with the public how we help our customer agencies accomplish their missions.
