GSA to Auction Charles E. Kelly Support Facility Parcels

ATLANTA -- Today, GSA announced its plan to auction portions of the Charles E. Kelly Support Facility in Collier Township, Pennsylvania in August on behalf of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

GSA will hold an Open House and site viewing of Parcels B and 14 at the facility on August 5, 2014 from 10am to 3pm.  The live auction takes place at the Collier Township Municipal Building in Presto on August 6, 2014 at 10 am.

The Charles E. Kelly Support Facility was designated for closure as part of the 2005 Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission after decades of service. More than 500 military and support personnel were previously employed there.

“GSA is actively working with federal agencies to dispose of unneeded properties,” said Angie Risch, Regional Director of Real Property Utilization and Disposal.  “The sale of these properties has the potential to help spur new development in the local community,” she continued.

Nationally, GSA has generated $97.7 million from the sales or transfer of 213 federal facilities across the country this year.

Parcels B and 14 of the Kelly Support Facility are located amidst the rolling hills of Collier Township in western Allegheny County, Pennsylvania between Oakdale and Rennerdale.  Collier Township, a suburban municipality, is adjacent to the City of Carnegie and Scott Township to the east and is approximately 9 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Parcel B features eight buildings on 15.47 acres and includes an entrance gate, fencing, roads, and parking area. Parcel B’s buildings, dating primarily to the 1960s and 1970s, include a 22,740 square feet former Commissary, an administration building of 6,070 square feet, and maintenance and storage sheds.  Parcel 14 consists of 2.41 acres and features 4 buildings, including a control room of 34,780 square feet and storage facilities.

Those planning to attend the live auction should arrive early for registration.. Additional information on the parcels, auction, and Open House is available through a search for Pennsylvania properties at http://propertydisposal.gsa.gov or by calling Susan Webb at (404) 331-9610.
