10 Tips To Save Money & Green Your Office or Home
Many building owners, office managers and workers are increasingly becoming more aware of the environmental and social impacts that office space can have on people. There are many ways that you can reduce your carbon footprint, be more energy efficient, save money, increase productivity or just boost overall employee morale when it comes to your office space or building.
People are always looking for ways to make their money stretch further, especially during the holidays. For example, did you know that a survey of 1,000 workers conducted by finance recruiting firm Accounting Principals revealed that the average American worker spends $37 per week on bought lunch, adding up to $2,000 a year? The same survey found that 50% of the American workforce spends $1,000 per year on coffee.
The following tips are easy ways for your to save money while being more eco-friendly at home or in the office. Start by calculating your office footprint or your personal footprint (non-government websites).
- For the holidays, consider planting a tree for gifts: In lieu of sending a holiday gift to a friend or family member, plant a tree in their name.

- Go mobile. Consider buying a laptop for your next computer upgrade; they use much less energy than desktop computers.
- Go as paperless as possible. Reduce the amount of storage space needed while reducing paper waste. That’s money in your pocket.
- Consider desk sharing: If you have a number of employees that don’t use the office regularly, consider assigning offices based on a schedule.
