Workplace Utilization - Total Workplace

In 2013, GSA launched a comprehensive service to create 21st century workplaces throughout the federal government. The Total Workplace Program provides resources and expertise to help federal agencies reduce their office space, foster collaboration, better manage IT spending, and increase energy efficiency. In a time of shrinking budgets, this initiative is already saving taxpayer dollars and helping customer agencies better serve the American people.

These kind of changes are often difficult for agencies to make themselves because they may be limited by their expertise and ability to make the initial upfront investment required. Total Workplace provides agencies with a clear model and investment plan. This enables them to navigate the fiscal and logistical challenges that they face when they transform their offices into facilities that are capable of supporting the work of a 21st century government.

The U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are the first agencies to use this innovative program. We project it will collectively save them approximately $73 million.
