Jeff Smith
Jeff Smith serves as the Heartland Region’s acting PBS regional commissioner, responsible for:
- Over 300 employees
- Over 22 million square feet of office, warehouse, data and lab space
- Almost 370 federally owned and leased locations
- Over $429 million in revenue
He brings extensive federal leadership experience to the Heartland Region, having previously served as the acting regional administrator and PBS regional commissioner for our Southeast Sunbelt Region, where he managed nearly 44 million rentable square feet across approximately 1,400 government-owned and leased facilities in eight states.
Smith previously served at the U.S. Marshals Service as the management support division’s assistant director, providing executive leadership and managerial oversight of four offices. He also held key leadership roles at the Veterans Benefits Administration as the executive director of mission support and at the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Region VII office as mission support director and chief of the Regional Watch and Coordination Center.
Smith is a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He holds a Master of Military Arts and Science degree from the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree from the University of Phoenix.
He and his wife have 3 children.
