GSA Awards $50 Billion Alliant Information Technology Contract
March 27, 2009
WASHINGTON - The U.S. General Services Administration announced today the selection of 59 firms for award under the $50 billion Alliant information technology contract.
Alliant is a governmentwide acquisition contract, providing federal agencies a centralized source to acquire integrated information technology solutions worldwide. The contract has a five-year base period, with one five-year renewal option. It provides streamlined access to a broad range of management and technical support services, enabling complex IT solutions to be acquired under a multiple award, indefinite delivery, and indefinite quantity contract.
“The award of Alliant is an important step in ensuring that agencies can rapidly deploy the funds they receive through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for information technology,” said Acting Administrator Paul F. Prouty. “GSA is now better positioned to assist our federal customers to meet their IT requirements in a streamlined and efficient manner while meeting the administration’s goals for transparency and oversight in federal contracting.”
The Alliant contract offers the same scope of solutions offered by the recently awarded Alliant small business contract set aside for exclusive small business participation. Alliant supports goals for streamlining acquisition processes and delivering cost-effective IT solutions to federal government agencies to improve service and increase efficiency. It also supports objectives of the federal enterprise architecture program. The Alliant contract was developed within the framework prescribed by the IT investment budget guidance issued by the Office of Management and Budget.
“Alliant is a vital component in GSA’s robust portfolio of IT contracts,” said Jim Williams, Commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service. “Alliant ensures that our customers have easy access to innovative IT solutions from a broad spectrum of highly qualified industry partners and provides an exceptional vehicle for federal agencies to achieve their missions through technology. Alliant represents perhaps the most comprehensive and flexible contract for IT solutions in government.”
