SAM.gov Transition to beta.SAM.gov
Multi-Step Integration of the System for Award Management (SAM) into beta.SAM.gov
For the latest information about IAE systems modernization, follow the IAE on Interact here.
SAM.gov is where users register to do business with the federal government, find exclusion records, and perform other tasks. The Integrated Award Environment (IAE) merged SAM.gov, IAE’s largest system, into the modernized beta.SAM.gov environment on May 24, 2021. The legacy SAM.gov was decommissioned, and the new environment retired the “beta” and was renamed SAM.gov.

Before integration, a new look and feel was introduced on beta.SAM.gov on April 26, 2021. The new design changed the presentation of current data sets and information on beta.SAM.gov, but it did not change core data or core functions of the system. The new look and feel will remain when the two systems merge. Essentially, we’re gave our current beta.SAM.gov users a head start and a chance to get used to the new design before SAM.gov functionality migrated over.
The system provides a modern portal for entities to register, update, renew, and check the status of their registration in the rebranded SAM.gov. Federal and non-federal users can search for registrations and exclusions, and entities will be able to perform service contract and BioPreferred reporting.
This transition aligns with GSA’s commitment to modernize the IAE systems to improve the user experience. We have held focus groups within and outside the government to learn more about what works for our various users, and the changes coming have been planned with their feedback in mind. This integration follows the successful integrations of CFDA.gov (assistance listings), WDOL.gov (wage determinations), FBO.gov (contract opportunities), and the contract data reports functionality from FPDS.gov.
