Energy & Water

In fiscal year 2016 (FY16), Federal facilities used 351 trillion Btu of energy and 126 billion gallons of water. The government has steadily reduced its use of these resources – with energy use down 25% since 2003 and water use down 24% from 2007. OFHPB works closely with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program and other agencies and partners to pilot and promote innovative energy and water saving practices – meeting the requirements of Federal statutes and Executive Orders while saving millions of dollars of taxpayer money.
