IT Continuity of Operations Program (COOP)

A Continuity of Operations Plan is required by Presidential Directive 20 to ensure that agencies are able to continue performance of essential functions during a wide range of emergencies, including localized acts of nature, accidents, and technological or attack-related emergencies.

Federal agencies are required to develop an integrated, overlapping continuity capability plan, and any GSA office that is responsible for a national Mission Essential Function (MEF) is required to create and update a plan annually.
