The U.S. General Services Administration has started the process of marketing for sale the Cotton Annex, a historic office building located in Federal Triangle South in the Southwest neighborhood of Washington DC. The Cotton Annex has been determined surplus property for GSA and will be sold through a public online auction process. The auction is expected to open on December 1, 2016 and will be open for 60 days.

The Cotton Annex building was constructed in 1937 for the Department of Agriculture. The building was vacated in 2007. With a combination of office and open space, the building is 118,450 square feet on six floors above a raised basement. The property is 1.41 acres and zoned D-8. The D-8 zone allows for a mix of uses including office, residential and retail. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The goal of the sale is to generate the highest value possible for this irreplaceable asset. The minimum bid is $5,000,000 and the bid deposit is $1,000,000.
