Efforts are underway to construct a new annex for the Tomochichi Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Savannah, Georgia. Congress appropriated funding in 2016 as part of a larger effort to modernize the entire judicial complex. The new 35,000-square-foot annex will allow the Judiciary to meet its current and long-term needs for security, accessibility and operational efficiency. Plans for the annex include a new bankruptcy courtroom and related chambers, as well as a new office for the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services System.
The annex achieved substantial completion in June 2021.
