This project is about 25% complete and is expected to 100% complete in May 2024.
Project Background
The Building 53 Project will help GSA backfill 104,667 USF of vacant space that was released due to a USGS consolidation effort. It will also address the most critical needs of the building in order to maintain operations and preserve life safety.
Project Goals
The Department of Interior (DOI) is the largest tenant of the Denver Federal Center (DFC) and is actively working with GSA to reduce their footprint and eliminate multiple private sector leases.
The back-fill portion of this project is a result of a long-term space strategy that was developed between DOI and GSA. The overall goal hopes to consolidate and co-locate many DOI offices in the Denver Metro area onto the DFC with the intent to meet related space consolidation, utilization, energy efficiency and lease cost savings. Additionally, the Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) will back-fill from three lease locations in the city of Lakewood.
