Project Background
Building 40 was constructed in 1941 as an office building and exhibits aspects of American International Style design. The two-story concrete structure is slab on grade with pier footings. Building 1A was constructed in 1985 and is located at the edge of the Denver Federal Center, straddling the secure and non-secure sides of the perimeter. The project focuses on the modernization of both building’s interiors for its new tenants. This project is also a consolidation project for the new tenants (BLM COSO and BLM RMACC).
Project Goals
GSA in collaboration with its clients, stakeholders, and contractors intends to modernize Building 40 and 1A to support BLM COSO’s unique mission. The project shall be a functionally aesthetic, sustainable, cost-effective, high performance facility which communicates BLM COSO’s mission through its design to the public and the agency.
