The Living Roof at 50 UNP

50 UNP boasts a 14,000-square-foot green roof that—thanks to the latest sustainable technology—provides both beauty and sustainability. The roof's structure helps reduce storm-water runoff by 75 percent and provides a safe haven for bird, butterfly, and insect populations. A carefully selected mix of plants includes both host and nectar species to help them thrive and populate the city. This roof joins others in the San Francisco area to create a series of habitat islands in the sky.

In addition to these features, photovoltaic solar panels provide energy for the building's use.
