Mike Goodwin, PBS Regional Commissioner, Southeast Sunbelt RegionMichael “Mike” Goodwin is the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) newly appointed Southeast Sunbelt Region (4) Public Buildings Service Regional Commissioner. In this role, Mike is responsible for GSA’s largest real estate portfolio outside of the nation’s capital, spanning approximately 44 million square feet in 1500 federally owned and leased facilities across 8 states.

Mike joined GSA in June 2015, having led a distinguished career as an executive with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) for nearly 28 years. There, he developed and implemented facilities-related solutions in support of an inventory of 35,000 buildings covering 285 million square feet, while also driving organizational effectiveness and process standardization. He most recently served as National Manager, Facilities Repair and Alteration where he managed a staff of approximately 200 employees and was directly responsible for an annual building repair budget in excess of $500 million. Mike also served as the Facilities Field Operations Manager, Manager of the Southeast Facilities Service Office, and Headquarters Manager for Design and Construction. His tenure with the Postal Service included a break in service during which he was a Construction Executive with Parson Brinkerhoff, a leading multinational engineering and design firm.

Mike’s broad base of experience brings expertise in all aspects of project planning, real estate, design and construction project management, and facilities program management. Highlights of his career include overseeing the large-scale mitigation and restoration of USPS’s Curseen-Morris Processing and Distribution Center following the infamous anthrax attack of 2001; implementing sustainable design standards that established the Postal Service as an industry leader; and administering major construction management contracts for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, American Red Cross National Headquarters, and Foley Square/Jacob Javits Federal Buildings and Courthouse.

Mike is a licensed architect and graduate of the University of Florida.
