The Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building is bound by the Twin Cities and highways 55, 5, 62 (Crosstown Expressway), and the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. In 1969 Congress officially named the building for Henry Benjamin Whipple [nongovernment site], first bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota.

Key Tenants
Major renovation work completed in June 2014 created a consolidated regional headquarters for the Department of Veterans Affairs (see VA office news story) and relocated several former tenants to Norman Pointe II, a leased office building in Bloomington, Minn.
Besides the VA, the Whipple building also houses Homeland Security offices, a Military Entrance Processing Station, military recruiting offices, an Immigration Review office, and the Federal Executive Board.

The Whipple Federal Building includes a cafeteria (open 7 a.m.– 3 p.m.), vending machines, and an ATM, all located on the ground floor.
