GSA Seeks to Exchange State Street Buildings for Renovation Work

State Street in Chicago in exchange for services at two other federally-owned facilities in Chicago. The RFP is posted on

About the RFP
GSA is seeking proposals from qualified development teams to provide construction services as consideration for the exchange. Through this RFP, GSA seeks to enter into an exchange agreement for the four properties to fund elevator improvements at the Ralph H. Metcalfe Federal Building and tuckpointing and masonry repairs at the Federal Archives and Records Center in Chicago.

This is the latest in GSA’s ongoing efforts to make more efficient use of the government's real estate assets. The RFP, viewable on, opened on July 8, and stakeholders will have through October 15 to provide input.

About the State Street Properties
The four properties at 202, 212, 214 and 220 S. State Street are located in the central business district of Chicago. The buildings were constructed between 1886 and 1920 and sit on a .5-acre site.

GSA Regional Administrator Ann P. Kalayil comments:
