Building Services and Concessions

The Heartland Region provides building services and amenities to federal tenants, including concession and janitorial services, as well as safety and fire protection services.

The Heartland Region partners with commercial vendors, small businesses and state licensing agencies to provide full service cafeterias, diners, snack shops and vending services for GSA customers.

Fire Protection Program

GSA is committed to providing fire protection for the safety of federal workers. GSA hires fire protection consultants when needed, maximizing fire protection expertise when replacing or adding fire protection in a location.

The Heartland is currently involved in many fire protection endeavors, including providing fire safety systems in limestone caverns, which many federal agencies are beginning to utilize. These efforts are supported by the Heartland Region's involvement with the National Fire Protection Association.

The Heartland Region partners with the Ability One Program, 8A and other small business and minority-owned vendors to maintain approximately 14 million square feet of federally-owned space.

The custodial program offers a vast menu of services to GSA customers, including: daily cleaning, periodic services, recycling, composting, snow removal, landscaping and solid waste removal.

Safety and Environmental

The goal of the Heartland Region safety and environmental team is to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all building occupants and visitors. Please report any health or safety concerns to your GSA Service Center.

The Heartland Region safety and environmental team is dedicated to maintaining accurate electronic records, pursuing record keeping excellence in support of the National Archives and Records Administration. Partnering with NARA, the team assists in maintenance and monitoring of the only archival records storage facilities in the Midwest.
