Heartland Region Historic Preservation Program

GSA's Heartland Region Historic Preservation Office helps customers with all aspects of historic preservation, including:

  • Advice on renovations.
  • How to carry out activities to follow the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Advice and assistance on technical and controversial preservation matters.

The National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 requires federal agencies to review any project funded, licensed, permitted, or assisted by the federal government for the impact on significant historic properties. Historic preservation is best achieved when GSA's Historic Preservation Office is involved in all stages of preservation or renovation projects.
