This sale supports the Federal Assets Sale and Transfer Act (P.L. 114-287) High Value Property list. The FAST Act was passed by Congress in 2016 to facilitate the disposal of unutilized or under-utilized federal assets. The Act created the Public Buildings Reform Board, which, when formed, began requesting property information from federal agencies to identify high value properties that could be taken directly to sale to generate at least $500,000,000 in proceeds. The proceeds will be used to perform the necessary due diligence to make other properties available for disposal.

The disposal of the Idaho Falls property is part of a larger strategy to evaluate underutilized assets, and shrink the federal footprint. Learn more at gsa.gov.
